Cat Who Learned How to Give Golden Retriever Scratches Can't Get a Moment of Peace

In the movies, cats and dogs are the world's greatest frenemies. Sure, they can coexist--and they can even be best friends--but they are also experts at getting on each other's last nerve. Maybe it's because they've both existed as domestic pets for thousands of years, but whatever it is, it's created an infamous reputation.

Still, cats and dogs can find the silliest ways to tolerate each other. Just ask Leila the Golden Retriever, who finally found a reason to like her family's black cat! As far as she's aware, the kitty figured out how to give her pets and scratches, but if you ask me, this cat may not be on the same page. Nevertheless, their hilarious early April TikTok video is too cute to miss!

LOL! Leila is in heaven from her feline brother's booty scratches, and I can't say that I blame her. I've definitely had a massage that felt so relaxing I nearly drooled! But I can't help shake the feeling that pets and scratches weren't the back cat's ultimate goal.

"I don’t think either of them knows exactly what’s going on," admitted commenter @gortsn, "but they seem alright with that." You're so right! Even if the angry cat was lashing out at first, the Golden Retriever's hilarious reaction replaced any leftover annoyance with confusion.

Besides, whoever said that dogs and cats couldn't get along? Some dogs with heightened prey drives may have a hard time learning not to chase a new feline friend, but many dogs are more than capable of sharing their home. Many cats and dogs who live in the same home rarely cross paths anyway, and when in doubt--you can always work with a dog trainer.

However, I'm not even sure if pet owners can teach their fur babies to get along quite like Leila and her cat brother do. This seemed like such a spontaneous, authentic interaction, and I'm just grateful she caught the moment on camera.

How to Introduce a Dog and Cat

Bringing home a new pet can be so exciting, but there's also a lot to prepare for. You'll be making a trip or two to the pet store, but the most complicated part of bringing home a new pet can be introducing them to everyone who's already at home.

For dogs with a positive history with cats, meeting through a dog gate may be the way to go. This gives both animals the opportunity to approach at their own pace, and you won't run the risk of anyone being startled or hurt.

Remember, you may not even want to start introducing your pets until your new friend feels more settled in. This can take several days, but with enough patience, love, and time, many pets have the potential to get along as well as Leila and her kitty brother.
