Cat Jumps Like a Little Kid After Dad Scares Him During ‘Hide-N-Seek'

Do you ever hide from your pet so that you can scare them when they come in the room? If you have a pet that follows you around everywhere you go, it's fun to sometimes do this and see their reaction. Alfred (AKA Alfie) is a British Longhair cat whose dad did this to him recently, and Alfie's reaction is hilarious!

Alfie's dad posted the funny video at the end of April. The camera is set up so we can see dad hiding behind the door as Alfie enters the room. Alfie doesn't suspect a thing and clearly doesn't know his dad is there. Watch what happens when dad makes his presence known...Alfie's reaction is the definition of a 'jump scare'!

I laughed out loud at this one! Alfie was not expecting his dad to be behind the door, and he got some air when he jumped! I don't think he even knew they were playing hide-n-seek! Commenters got a kick out of Alfie's response, too. @Angela Harrington pointed out, "Alfie, your dad got you with the oldest trick in the book LOL!" @Pots and Panz shared, "I love his 'wrrr wrrr' noises!!!" @NK Nok said, "I watched more than 10 times... so cute!" I did too!

Facts About British Longhair Cats

Of the almost 300 comments people left, one of the things that I noticed was how many people said how gorgeous Alfie is...and he is! I don't know much about British Longhair cats, so I did a little research to learn more.

Hepper describes these cats calm, reserved, and kind cats; they combine the main characteristics of the British Shorthair and the Persian cat. Some cats are big snuggle bugs and love to cuddle, but this breed isn't one of them. Catster shares that this breed is "affectionate but doesn’t enjoy being picked up, happy spending time on their own, laidback and tolerant." They go on to say that the breed is perfect for "families looking for an independent yet sociable cat that can live happily with children and other pets."

Exercise isn't really their thing, and you may have to coax them into getting some activity in. They're lazy and love to lounge more than run around. This means that they are at a higher risk of becoming obese, which can lead to joint problems, diabetes, and other serious health concerns.

British Longhair cats shed throughout the year and more than usual during their twice-yearly seasonal coat changes. Plan on a short daily brushing session. During their seasonal sheds, you may need to spend longer and brush them more than once a day.

If you're considering bringing home a new kitten or cat, make sure that you do your research on the breed to determine if it's a fit for your family. I think a British Longhair would be perfect for my family if my husband wasn't allergic to cats!
