The world's 10 top earning supermodels revealed
  • With earnings of $42 million in the year to June 2013, Gisele Bündchen is streets ahead of the competition, even though her earnings have fallen slightly from last year's $45 million. While Forbes calculates that her earnings from endorsement dropped a little over the last year, she picked up contracts for H&M, Chanel and the David Yurman jewellery firm. She also owns an eco-friendly cosmetics company, Sejaa, and a stake in high-performing Brazilian footwear firm Grendane. Gisele managed all this despite giving birth to her second child with her American footballer husband Tom Brady - whom she out-earns slightly - and isn't likely to lose her top slot any time soon.
  • While a long way behind Gisele, Australian Miranda Kerr - aka Mrs Orlando Bloom - managed a very respectable $7.2 million during the year, well up on last year's $4 million and seventh place. The figure was boosted dramatically by earnings from her Kora Organics skincare range, as well as deals with Qantas, David Jones, Lipton and Mango. And she's very big in Asia, with endoresement deals with EMODA, Samantha Thavasa and Clear.
  • Adriana Lima perhaps best personifies the Victoria's Secret effect, as the company's longest-serving Angel - three years and counting. It's where the bulk of her $6 million earnings come from, says Forbes. But she also has some lucrative endorsement deals, with brands including Miu Miu, Donna Karan and Mavi Jeans, helping her step up one place in the list since last year.
  • Liu Wen has appeared in campaigns for Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss and Estée Lauder, and last year became the first Chinese model to take part in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. New to the list, with earnings of $4.3 million, she's being tipped as one to watch - especially in China, of course.
  • Like Gisele Bündchen, Lara Stone took time out this year to have a baby with comedian husband David Walliams - possibly the reason she's fallen from eighth place last year, when she earned $3.8 million. Nevertheless, her exclusive deal with Kalvin Klein - she's modelled jeans, jewellery and accessories for the company - helped her to make $3.2 million during the year.
