Car park blaze destroys 60 motors

As many as 60 vehicles were destroyed during a huge fire in a shopping centre car park in southern Ireland.

Irish media reports said a people carrier initially caught fire at the Douglas Village Shopping Centre in Cork, with the blaze spreading to surrounding vehicles. The reason for the fire was not yet known.

The manager of the shopping centre said it remained closed, pending assessments of the building. Around 170 cars that were not damaged remained on site.

Video from the Cork City Fire Brigade shows the burnt-out cars, and also structural damage after Saturday's incident. The brigade tweeted its thanks for the support it received.
