Just when you think that Land Rover simply couldn't find any more SUV niches – it comes up with another. And this time it's the turn of the limited-edition Range Rover SV Coupe revealed today at the Geneva Motor Show.
At least there is some logic behind this, though, as the original Range Rover was available to begin with as a two-door.
This SV Coupe is the work of Jaguar Land Rover SVO (Special Vehicle Operations), which has been churning out some incredible cars in recent years, with the Jaguar Project 8 and Range Rover SVAutobiography being the highlights so far.
The Range Rover SV Coupe is said to be the 'world's first luxury SUV coupe'. The production run is limited to 999 cars, with each example costing an eye-watering £240,000 – nearly triple the price of the standard Range Rover. This doesn't include the tens of thousands of pounds that many customers will no doubt spend on options, either.
Clearly retaining the same looks of the standard model, but fitted with two power-closing doors as well as frameless glass. It's also the first Range Rover available with 23-inch wheels as a factory option.
The interior features semi-aniline leather, as well as a diamond quilt that is unique to this model. Elsewhere it comes with heated and cooled leather seats, a Meridian signature sound system and a 10-inch infotainment display.
John Edwards, Land Rover Special Operations managing director, said: "The introduction of the new SV Coupe brings a new level of individual expression to the Range Rover portfolio and builds on the success of Special Vehicle Operations' existing bespoke Range Rover programme.
"Feedback from SV clients who have already seen the vehicle in confidential commissioning sessions has been overwhelmingly positive."
Buyers have the option of three veneers as well as 100 paint colours, while owners can even have 'match to sample' colours if they really want a bespoke model. You can also have your own headrest embroidery, as well as door handle and treadplate engraving, too.
Anyone able to splash a quarter of a million pounds on a Range Rover can register their interest now, with sales starting in the fourth quarter of 2018.
