If you're looking to own a slice of Formula 1 history, but can't quite stretch to the millions necessary for a bona fide racer, a new option has become available. It's rear-engined, resplendent in Ferrari Red and is powered by a 380bhp engine. It's also a bus.
The Iveco-based motor coach was actually part of the Scuderia Ferrari team transport fleet, used for meetings and interviews between the racers, teams and media. This particular bus was active from 2001 to 2005 – the period when lead driver Michael Schumacher secured the last four of his seven world championships.
It's fitted with a 380bhp diesel engine, which drives via an eight-speed ZF transmission. It also rides on air suspension for a seriously cossetting journey.
Originally, the coach was fitted with two separate 'apartments' – each equipped with a TV, computer, internet connection and wardrobe, as well as a physiotherapy table to ensure the drivers had a relaxing post-race massage.
The next owner, however, transformed it into a luxury motorhome. As well as upgrading the electronics and furniture, a complete bathroom was fitted, along with a luxurious double bed, heating and air-conditioning, an onboard generator and a Bose home theatre.
The coach is headed to auction at Bonhams "Les Grandes Marques Du Monde Au Grand Palais" auction on February 8th. It will be sold without reserve, though the auction house estimates a price of £110,000-£130,000.
It's joined there by a selection of incredible vehicles. Fans of forgotten French classics will lust over the Delahaye 148 Cabriolet from 1948. With an estimated minimum value of £79,000, it's said to be in immaculate condition, with the listing calling it 'a fine sporting car'.
Fancy something a bit quirkier? Take a look at the Inter Type 175 A. It's a crazy microcar, one of just 38 remaining. It had a tandem seating arrangement, much like the classic Messerschmitt, but was capable of folding its front wheels underneath itself to enable parking in even narrower spaces.
A rare Citroen DS21 Decapotable is also heading under the hammer, with an estimated price of £160,000-£190,000. The big Citroen remains one of the most innovative cars ever built, with hydraulic suspension and seemingly space-age features such as swivelling headlights. It's also one of the most beautiful, especially in convertible form as seen here.
Our final pick is the incredible and eye-catching Fiat 500 Jollycar. It's a recreation of the original model from the 60s, and features the same fringed roof and wicker seats. Clearly, it won't be to everybody's taste, but it's certainly a talking point – and with just over 4,000 miles on the clock, it's an immaculate example.
