Limited-edition Mazda MX-5 Z-Sport revealed

Updated:

Mazda has unveiled a limited-edition MX-5 Roadster. Named the Z-Sport, it will go on sale in March next year exclusively for the UK market.

The new Z-Sport will be limited to just 300 units, and features a range of stylish extras and additions that help to lift the popular convertible's looks.

New features include a deep cherry red fabric hood, 17-inch black BBS alloy wheels and Sand leather upholstery. Machine Grey metallic paint is included free of charge, as are Z-Sport floor mats and scuff plates.

It is not just about looks, though, because Mazda has added some sporty touches under the skin. It receives a limited slip differential, Bilstein dampers and a strut brace to help it drive as good as it looks.

The Z-Sport badge last appeared on the third-generation MX-5 in 2007. The new model is even more limited than the old model, when 400 units were produced.

It is fitted with the same 158bhp 2.0-litre SkyActiv petrol engine that sits in the regular MX-5. It produces 158bhp and 200Nm of torque, allowing it to sprint from 0-60mph in 7.1 seconds and go on to a top speed of 133mph. As for fuel economy, it manages 40.9mpg on the combined cycle and emits 161g/km of CO2.

Jeremy Thompson, managing director of Mazda Motors UK said: "We've had a long tradition of producing distinctive limited-edition MX-5s that allow customers to drive a sports car with stand-out looks and enhanced equipment, and the new Z-Sport is one of the best.

"The stunning combination of the cherry red roof and Machine Grey metallic paint make this one of the most exclusive looking MX-5s we've ever offered and I'm sure it will be a very popular choice when it arrives in dealerships."

The MX-5 Z-Sport is priced from £25,595 and will hit showrooms on March 1 next year.
