Following a debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in September, Vauxhall has announced pricing for the hottest model of its latest Insignia – the GSi. The performance-oriented executive cruiser will be available in petrol or diesel forms and as either a hatchback or estate. It will be priced from £33,375 on the road.
The GSi badge harks back to Vauxhall's past – plenty of readers will likely remember the Astra GSi of the 90's with fondness. The badge died out over the 2000s, and Vauxhall's performance offerings gained the 'VXR' moniker instead.

However, GSi is back, and will denote warmed-up Vauxhall models a step or two below the full, firebreathing might of the VXR lineup. To that end, the Insignia GSi has a relatively modest power figure of 256bhp or 207bhp for the petrol and diesel models respectively.
Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive. Torque vectoring, which shuffles the power to different wheels to aid cornering, is standard, as is an adjustable 'Flexride' chassis.
Vauxhall says the Insignia GSi will reach 60mph from rest in 6.9 seconds – in hatchback form – and go on to a top speed of 155mph. It's also the fastest Vauxhall ever to lap the Nurburgring circuit – though the company will not reveal the exact time.
The GSi is also equipped with beefy Brembo brakes and performance-biased Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres wrapped around 20-inch alloy wheels.
The car's also been worked over in the styling department, gaining chromed air intakes and unique bumpers front and rear. There's also a large rear spoiler on hatchback models. Inside, full leather upholstery is standard, as is an eight-inch infotainment display and Bose sound system.
The Insignia GSi will arrive in UK showrooms in March.
