Public poll in Doncaster sees gritter get glorious name.
Move over Boaty McBoatface, there's a new king in town — Gritsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Anti-Slip Machiney.
Much like Boaty McBoatface, this gritter machine's name came top of a public poll hosted by Doncaster Council.
Unlike what was eventually called RRS Sir David Attenborough instead of McBoatface, though, the name is sticking!
It's not the first time Doncaster Council's gritting equipment has been christened with an amusing name, though. Other vehicles on-fleet include Gritney Spears and Usain Salt.
Gritsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Anti-Slip Machiney beat Spready Mercury to take the name of the new gritter, while another vehicle received the name David Plowie.
Following the announcement, the council announced it would "have the biggest party local government has ever seen".
