At first glance, this high-quality piece of filmmaking appears to be the work of a car manufacturer – perhaps a vintage advert from the 1990s. But look closer and you'll spot that this car ad isn't all it seems.
It's the work of Los Angeles-based filmmaker Max Lanman, who decided to take the unorthodox route to helping his girlfriend, Carrie Hollenbeck, sell her 1996 Honda Accord. Instead of merely listing the car on an auction site, in the classifieds or through word of mouth, he created this incredible advert to turn the public's attention to the aging coupe.
The film stars actress Anne Marie Avey, who shows off the Accord's many features – including a mirror in the boot, a coffee machine on the front seat and even a built-in cat for cuddles while commuting.
The ad was posted on YouTube and in amongst the humorous scenes also features some stunning drone photography of the Californian coastline. That it's such a slick production is perhaps unsurprising – Lanman is a writer and director who's created commercials for companies as high-end as Microsoft and Haagen-Dazs in the past.
While the original eBay ad did attract fake bids from punters up to as much as $100,000, it's since been relisted, and sits currently at a much more palatable $540.00 at the time of writing.
