Frightening footage shows a woman exiting her car moments before it’s hit by a train

If anything gives you a reason not to tempt fate at a railway level crossing, this should be it. Terrifying dashcam footage released by police shows the moment a woman runs from her car – just in time to avoid being flattened by a train.

The video, filmed in High Point, North Carolina, shows the woman stopping her car on the wrong side of the crossing barrier. She exits the car, before running back to get her handbag. She barely manages to get herself out of harm's way before the train arrives, totally crushing the car she was in.

The woman turned herself into police after the incident, where she was charged for driving without a license and given a citation for a railway crossing violation. Luckily she was uninjured by the incident, although the same cannot be said for her car.
