A police officer is lucky to be alive after being hit by a speeding drunk driver.
The officer, Matt Lesell, was on duty in Fort Worth, Texas at 3am on July 7 when he pulled over a driver.
As he approached the side of the vehicle another car hit the police cruiser before careering into the officer, sending him flying.
The whole incident was caught on the dash camera of the police car. A suspected drink driver was behind the wheel of the car that hit Lesell. The aftermath of the crash shows Lesell attempting to get up before falling over in pain. He struggles out of the carriageway and manages to get himself to the edge of the highway.
He suffered relatively minor injuries considering the speed of the impact - a fractured vertebra and a hyperextended foot - and is now making a full recovery.
