A small tornado briefly sent a car into the air in Hamburg, New York on Thursday, July 20.
CCTV footage from a home shows dozens of items flying across its lawn, before the car – a Subaru Legacy Outback – becomes airborne. The near-1700kg car was lifted from the driveway of the home to the grass adjacent.
The second part of the video features audio from inside the house. The tornado can be seen approaching from the right, along the road and towards the home.
As the storm draws nearer, panic is evident in the voices of the occupants, including a young child, who cries as the tornado passes.
New York is not a state that suffers from tornadoes on a regular basis; however, they have become more common since the 1970s.
