Could this be Britain’s most selfish driver? Hatchback owner sparks controversy

A driver who took up four parking spaces in a car park has caused controversy online.

Fabio Silva parked his white Seat Leon in the middle of four parking spaces in a car park in Spalding, Lincolnshire.

Defending his actions, Silva wrote online: "Start spending hundreds of pounds on your car and then you'll understand where I'm coming from.

"Sorry for not wanting idiots ruining my pride and joy."

Silva uploaded the pictures to a Facebook group, saying: "Nothing quite like parking and taking up four spaces."

The picture sparked both sympathy and outrage, with hundreds of people taking to social media to comment on the picture, with many people branding it as 'selfish' or calling him an 'idiot' for parking in such a bizarre way.

One person commented: "And to think the person driving that car was the fastest swimmer!

"What a poor gene pool."

Another said: "If you think you're no good at parking then you may not feel so bad after seeing this."

However, others sided with Silva. One Facebook user, who shared the post, sympathised with him and understood his reasoning. He said: "Some people don't care about other people's cars and some people love their cars. If people [showed] more respect to others' cars then people wouldn't have to do this."

The picture went viral across both Facebook and Twitter, and has featured in various national newspapers, dividing opinion.
