You would expect a flood to be the last place a car could catch fire, but a Mercedes that had been driven into one did just that.
The incident, which took place in Ross Township, Pennsylvania, saw the Mercedes owner drive into the water before the vehicle stalled. After the driver and the other three occupants got to safety, the car started to smoke and eventually caught fire.
Mobile footage shows the car engulfed in flames while semi-submerged in the water and eyewitness reports claim the people in the Mercedes were returning from a graduation ceremony.
The most likely cause of the fire would have been an electrical fault caused by conductive flood water, which then caused a short circuit and sparking of the electrics to occur. Those sparks could have then set a flammable piece of material alight.
All of those in the car were unharmed in the incident.
