A grandmother from Hucknall in Nottinghamshire has taken matters into her own hands by using a hairdryer as a fake speed gun.
Jean Brooks, 63, began using a hairdryer with the wire cut off after motorists were constantly speeding down the road where she lives.
Since she appeared on BBC Radio Nottingham, she has become something of a hero.
Speaking to the BBC, she said: "People come up to me and hug me and say 'thank you for making the street safer."
"As far as the local school kids are concerned, I'm a national hero. If the traffic slows down nobody's going to get hurt. I've already got a cat that's only got three legs because he didn't know his green cross code.'"
The video shows her using the 'speed gun' by pointing it at cars as if it were the real thing. People do appear to slow down - showing its effectiveness.
