Woman arrested after allegedly locking her children in the boot of her car to go shopping

A woman, who is accused of locking her two children in the boot of her car while she went shopping, has been arrested.

Tori Castillo, 39, of Riverdale, Utah in the USA, allegedly put her two children, aged two and five, in the boot while she visited her local Wal-Mart.

The Mirror reports that an eyewitness saw the vehicle "moving frantically, causing the vehicle to shake" before "several good Samaritans observed this and came to the aid of the children".

Castillo was arrested upon her return to the vehicle and booked into Weber County Jail for investigation into child abuse.

Riverdale City Police officer Casey Warren told KTVX: "It's never right to lock a child inside of a vehicle, let alone a trunk of a vehicle. Obviously there are a lot of things that could go wrong."

Charity Maw, who witnessed the events unfolding and heard the children in the boot, spoke to CNN. She said: "I was shocked, I was shaken, and I was mad.

"And there are two kids there, tears coming down their face. Bawling. They were scared."
