Renault will stage the public debut for its new Megane R.S. hot hatch at the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix.
When it goes on sale, the Megane R.S. will go head to head with the likes of the latest Honda Civic Type-R, as well as the Ford Focus RS and Volkswagen Golf R.
Renault Sport F1 team driver Nico Hulkenberg will take to the track in the hot hatch on May 26, ahead of its official unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The F1 racer said: "I got an opportunity to test All-New Mégane R.S. during its development and I was hooked first time out by the excellence of its chassis.
"Renault Sport has done a tremendous job on its performance credentials. It was a huge pleasure to drive it around the legendary street track at Monaco today".
Managing director of Renault Sport Cars Patrice Ratti commented: "I don't think we could have chosen a more appropriate or more impactful moment than the 40th anniversary of Renault's involvement in F1 to launch a new model. We aim to make All-New Mégane R.S. the new compact sports car benchmark."
Renault began developing the Megane R.S. at the same time as the base-version of the hatchback, which is already available on the market. To meet customer demand, Renault will offer the R.S. with a choice of manual or dual-clutch automatic transmissions.
