Strangers rescue young family from raging floodwaters

Updated:

This is the incredible moment a group of strangers jumped into raging floodwaters to rescue a family from their overturned pick-up truck.

The vehicle flipped on to its roof after it aquaplaned off the highway while its occupants were trying to escape stormy weather and tornadoes that had been ravaging the area around Myrtle Springs in Texas.

As the strangers fought to free Phillip and Emily Ocheltree – the truck's occupants – they realise the parents' baby boy and two-year-old daughter are also trapped in the car.

Dramatic footage shows the children being pulled from the car, before the rescuers perform CPR in an attempt to get them breathing again.

Thankfully, no one was killed in the incident – although the couple's two-year-old daughter Addy remains in hospital where she is being treated.
