Teen 'hit traffic warden with car while fleeing from parking ticket'

This is the shocking moment a traffic warden was run down by a teen who was attempting to avoid a parking ticket, a court has been told.

The horrifying incident, which happened in Eastchurch, Kent, on July 8, 2016, was captured on the body cameras of the alleged victim, David Drury, and his colleague Rikesh Solanki.

The footage shows Drury go over the bonnet of a Vauxhall Omega driven by Michael Johnson, 18, and land on the pavement

Drury and Solanki had seen Johnson's car parked on the pavement next to zig-zag lines near a pedestrian crossing in the High Street and were in the process of giving him a ticket after the teen had allegedly failed to heed the wardens' warnings about his parking.

Following the incident, Johnson, of Eastchurch, on the Isle of Sheppey, is being tried at Maidstone Crown Court on charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and dangerous driving, which he denies.

The trial continues.
