The latest version of Honda's extreme Civic Type R hot hatchback has broken cover in the United States ahead of its American debut.
Video footage, which surfaced on YouTube on Monday, shows a completely undisguised production version of the Japanese pocket rocket on the road in California.
The Type R featured in the video is thought to be serial number 00000, and thanks to black body paint and black wheels, it looks like an incredibly evil little car.
The 21-second video doesn't reveal too much about the latest performance Honda, although it does confirm that the it sounds impressive under hard acceleration.
A 2.0-litre turbo-charged four-cylinder engine powers the latest Type R, which develops 315bhp and 400Nm of torque. Honda says this should deliver a 0-60mph sprint time of less than 5.5 seconds.
The new performance-orientated Civic will be revealed to US audiences at this week's New York Auto Show.
