Ride along on Ferrari's 112mph rollercoaster

Updated:

Ferrari has opened Europe's fastest rollercoaster at a new theme park dedicated to the iconic Italian brand.

The 367-foot rollercoaster is the headline feature of the new Ferrari Land park in Salou, Spain, and has been designed to recreate the adrenaline rush of driving in a Formula 1 race, even featuring carriages shaped like F1 cars.

The ride is not only the fastest on the continent, getting from a standstill to 112mph five seconds, but also the tallest.

Video from the Press Association shows the ride's near-vertical climb to its summit, before the carriages plummet earthwards at high speed.

Dubbed Red Force, Ferrari is hoping the ride will help achieve the aim of five million visitors in its first year.

The theme park follows on from Ferrari World, which is in Abu Dhabi and located next to the Yas Marina race circuit, home of the final round of the F1 World Championship.
