Two thieves who used a stolen moped to swipe mobile phones from pedestrians have been jailed following sentencing at Isleworth Crown Court on March 31.
Zuriel Hutson, 21, of Crowfield House, Highbury New Park, and Sharuk Sheraji, 22, of Sebastion House, Hoxton Street, used the scooter to steal as many as 18 mobile phones around London on November 26 last year.
Police pursued the pair, arresting Sheraji when he jumped off the moped and attempted to flee on foot. He was found to be in possession of 18 mobile phones.
Hutson attempted to use the moped to escape, and lead police on a high-speed chase along the M11 motorway. He was eventually caught after police deployed a stinger and punctured the moped's tyres.
Sheraji was sentenced to two years' imprisonment after pleading guilty to conspiracy to steal and breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order at Wood Green Crown Court on February 9.
Hutson was sentenced to two-and-a-half years' imprisonment after admitting to conspiracy to steal, dangerous driving and breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order at Wood Green Crown Court on January 31.
