Ohio bus driver talks suicidal woman down from bridge

An Ohio bus driver is to be commended for his compassion after preventing a suicidal woman from jumping to her death.

Damone Hudson was driving his regular bus route when he spotted the woman on the wrong side of the Main Street bridge's safety railings on February 16.
The quick-thinking bus driver pulled over to try and talk the distressed woman back to safety.

Hudson remembers saying to the woman: "Ma'am you look like you're having a bad day, you know. Can I give you a hug?"

He added: "It was just anything to get her to come back over on the other side of the rail."

Thankfully, Hudson's efforts were successful and emergency services soon arrived and moved the woman to safety.

The compassionate bus driver will now be honoured for his kindness and quick thinking on March 17.
