This is the shocking moment a traffic warden was wrestled to the ground after riding his scooter into a group of men.
The altercation happened on Leaside Road in Hackney at lunchtime on Tuesday. Footage captured on nearby CCTV shows a group of men surrounding the man's scooter as he attempts to ride away. He knocks one man down and is bundled to the ground by others.
Mobile phone footage from the scene shows the man swinging his helmet at the men surrounding him.
The argument is said to have started when a group of local businessmen told the traffic warden they were going to report him to the council for harassment. A bystander allegedly told The Sun that the warden then began threatening the group.
However, witnesses told the Evening Standard that the warden was defending himself after being surrounded, and even made a desperate call for help on his radio.
Hackney council member for transport Feryal Demirci said: "The warden's bodycam footage shows he was subjected to significant and unprovoked levels of intimidation, threats and harassment in the lead-up to that which has also been captured on video by members of the public.
Police arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He was bailed until February.
