Elderly driver filmed going wrong way down dual carriageway

Shocking dashcam footage shows the moment a man risked a head-on collision with an elderly driver travelling the wrong way down a dual carriageway.

The video was recorded on Sunday morning by Charlie Burton while driving westbound on the A14 near Ipswich.

Up ahead, a car carrying his girlfriend and three children is forced to swerve out of the outside lane to avoid the oncoming Nissan Micra. As the wrong-way driver approaches, Burton shouts: "My family are in there, stop!"

Burton pulled into the motorist's path in an attempt to get her to stop, but she carried on regardless. The woman was later stopped by police and voluntarily gave up her licence.

Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times, Burton said: "When I caught up to [my girlfriend] she had pulled into a lay-by in tears, shaking like mad."
