Hawk drops snake on car's windscreen

An Australian driver and her passengers got a nasty surprise recently when a low flying bird of prey dropped a snake on their car's windscreen.

The motorist, known only as Joanne, was driving near the Wivenhoe Dam, west of Brisbane, when the hawk swooped low towards her car, with a large snake in its claws.

Footage captured on her dashcam shows the bird getting closer, before suddenly releasing the snake and soaring skywards. While the hawk escapes collision, the snake isn't so lucky, and with a loud thud it strikes the car's windscreen.

The vehicle's occupants scream in shock, and one woman is heard shouting: "Wind your window up!"

It is unclear whether the hawk dropped the snake on the car by accident or intentionally.

The video was shared to the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page yesterday, although the date of the incident is unknown.
