Volvo owners will no longer have to worry about fuelling, washing or servicing their cars, thanks to a new concierge service and digital key technology available on its latest models.
The brand is launching a pilot programme, which is targeting XC90 and S90 owners in San Francisco. Participants will be able to use an app to identify concierge services available in the local area and order them via their smartphone. These requests are picked up by authorised Volvo service providers, who can carry out the work while the car's owner is not using it.
This is possible because the app provides a one-time-use digital key for the service provider, which is location- and time-specific. When the services are complete, the car is locked and the digital key expires. The car can also be returned to where the customer left it or delivered to a completely new location at the customer's request.
Research by Volvo has shown that more than 70 per cent of customers want fuelling services, while 56 per cent want their car picked up for routine maintenance, and 49 per cent would like to be able to have their car moved to another location when needed.
