This is the new 600bhp Aston Martin Vanquish S

Updated:

Aston Martin has revealed an updated version of its luxury grand tourer, packing more power, more aggressive styling and an 'S' badge on the boot.

The Vanquish S is one of the most powerful Astons ever built – its 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 makes 595bhp and 630Nm of torque. The latter figure is unchanged from the standard Vanquish, but power is 27bhp up on before.

Performance figures are understandably impressive. The Vanquish S will complete the 0-60mph dash in 3.3 seconds on its way to a top speed of 201mph.

There have also been a number of mechanical tweaks to make the most of the new-found power, namely quicker shifts from the eight-speed gearbox and sharpened-up suspension in sport modes. Aston Martin says the car is still just as relaxing in its comfort mode, though.

The exterior upgrades are rather more in your face. The new bodykit is much more aggressive than before, with a prominent front splitter and a rear diffuser housing four exhaust pipes that wouldn't look out of place on a race car.

The most exquisite touch of all is that the kit now has sections of exposed carbon fibre. The Vanquish's bodywork is made completely from the lightweight material, and in S form that is visually celebrated.

There are also new diamond-turned alloy wheels, some optional graphics that can be fitted to the exterior and carbon bonnet louvres. Inside, buyers can choose satin carbon for the dashboard and Bridge of Weir Caithness leather for the seats, which sounds rather fancy.

The Aston Martin Vanquish S starts at £199,950.
