Hurley and Chevrolet collaborate to create surf truck

Carmaker Chevrolet and sportswear brand Hurley have collaborated to create the ultimate surf truck, the Colorado Z71 Hurley concept.

It was unveiled at the SEMA Auto Show and promises to serve as the ultimate surf companion, enabling wave riders to go further afield than they have ever done before.

Raised suspension, 17-inch Chevrolet Accessories wheels, extra lights and Goodyear DuraTrac all-terrain tyres all combine to make the Hurley concept even more off-road-capable than the vehicle it's based on, the Colorado Z71.

It features a custom surfboard rack, storage systems and even water-resistant seat covers made from advanced ventiprene, a material similar to neoprene.

And the khaki concept can even serve as a mobile beach command centre, thanks to a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot on board.

Jessica Rogers, Colorado marketing manager, said: "The Colorado is a lifestyle enabler and the Hurley concept demonstrates the personalisation possibilities for one of the most thrilling sports.

"With Chevrolet Accessories parts, the sky — and the surf — is the limit when it comes to tailoring the Colorado to your work or recreation interests."

Ryan Hurley, creative director for Hurley, added: "This concept is all about functionality.

"When we discussed the project with Chevrolet, we didn't want just a truck with our logo on it. It had to offer solutions for the challenges surfers face at remote locations and that's exactly what it delivers."

Finally, a Chevrolet Performance concept exhaust system will feature on the Colorado Z71 Hurley concept. The system is designed to complement the performance of the all-new 3.6L V-6 engine that will make its debut in the 2017 Colorado.
