A lorry driver has been jailed after crashing into stationary traffic because he was looking at his phone.
Razvan Rusu, 30, caused the pile-up on the M1 in Edgware, north London, on March 17 last year, injuring two drivers.
Footage released by the Metropolitan Police shows Rusu driving with one hand on the wheel and the other holding his phone. Officers said that he was checking his device for about a mile before the impact.
Fortunately, the driver at the back of the queue managed to swerve out of the way before Rusu's HGV smashed into other vehicles.
The Romanian national, who is living in the UK, went back to his home country after the crash but was arrested upon his return to the UK.
Razvan Rusu, of no fixed address, was jailed for eight months at Harrow Crown Court after pleading guilty to dangerous driving. He was also banned from driving for three years and ordered to take a retest.
