This is the shocking moment a carjacking victim is run over by his own car


CCTV footage shows the moment the victim of a shocking carjacking is run over by his own car.

The incident took place on Tib Street in Manchester's Northern Quarter. Manoulis Mourikis told the Manchester Evening News that he was stood beside his car talking to a friend when a man jumped in behind him.

As the thief drove away, Mourikis chased the car down and managed to get the door open. But as he leaned in to grab the keys, the man reversed, sending the 33-year-old tumbling to the ground.

Mourikis managed to jump up and run to the pavement as his Volkswagen was accelerated away.

The victim was cared for by passers-by before being taken to hospital. He said that police hadn't been able to trace the car

However, a 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, driving under the influence of alcohol, and assault in connection with the incident. He has been bailed until November 23.
