Man tracks down classic car to recreate family photograph

A doctor spent years tracking down a classic car to recreate a treasured photograph taken of him and his father in 1978.

The original photograph shows Ramana Puppala's father, Shyam, holding him next to the family's classic Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme on the roof of the Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

With the hospital holding a special place in the family's hearts – Puppala, his father and his younger brother all spent time working there – Puppala decided to recreate the image with his own son in exactly the same spot.

After years of searching, he finally tracked down a 1978 Cutlass Supreme in exactly the same colour as his dad's at an auction in Pennsylvania, placing a winning bid only $1.01 higher than the previous one.

After transporting the car back to Chicago, much to the surprise of Shyam, Ramana set about arranging the shoot. With the help of the hospital, the family managed to recreate the photograph with the newest member of the Puppala clan.
