Shocking dashcam footage shows the moment hay bales on a tractor trailer caught fire, littering a residential street with flaming debris.
The scary video was recorded in the village of Everton in Bedfordshire, and begins with the fully laden vehicle winding through country lanes.
As it enters a residential street, lumps of hay begin to fall from the trailer as smoke becomes visible. The fire quickly takes hold and the tractor driver pulls to one side before inspecting the damage. Within moments his cargo has become an inferno.
Professional driver John Coleman, 48, captured the footage from his car behind the tractor. He said: "I could smell burning as I was travelling down the road but I couldn't tell where it was coming from at first – it smelled like a bonfire.
"When it was fully alight you could feel the heat through the glass, it was like a furnace."
Fire crews took 11 minutes to arrive after receiving a call about the incident, and took nearly two hours to put the fire out. The cause of the blaze remains unknown.
