Owning a car is expensive at the best of times. Even when you take care of your motor, trips to the garage are inevitable. There are ways, however, to make your car last longer and ensure any hits on your wallet are minimal – and they don't require an in-depth knowledge of cars.
A new video highlights the ways in which you may be damaging your car without even realising it.
Firstly, it focuses on tyres. They're the only contact between your car and the road, which means it's vital to ensure there's a legal level of tread. But it's not just checking for wear that's important. If you don't keep your tyres inflated to the recommended amount you can wear them out quicker.
Other points include braking earlier and more gently to increase brake life, accelerating slowly to conserve fuel and ensure you don't over-rev the engine, and keeping your car clean to avoid rust.
