Low-mileage Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II expected to fetch £220k

A stunning 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II with just 885 miles on the clock is going up for auction next month.

This car is number 452 of 502 made by Mercedes-Benz and was one of only four cars that was officially sold in the UK. It even comes with the original dealer sticker!

As with many of these meticulously maintained classics, the car was bought by a collector who had no intention of driving it – it was stored with the supplying dealer for the first 10 years of its life. In that time the car barely moved, and the bodywork's condition acts as proof of that fact.

The black paint is in pristine condition and Silverstone Auctions, where the car is set to go under the hammer, claims "the condition of the exterior is a joy to behold". It's hard to argue based on the photos...

The interior, free from a life of grubby fingers and leather-bothering passengers, is in similarly fresh condition. There is "little or no wear" on the seats, dash, door cards or headlining.

The engine bay is just as it was the day the car was delivered in 1990, with all of the mechanical components maintained while stored. There are no aftermarket parts fitted.

Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, said: "Any fan of the legendary 'Group A' Touring Car era needs to see this car to truly appreciate both its originality and splendid collector status. Without question, one of the lowest mileage examples one could ever find on the market today."

This car will be auctioned at Salon Privé, Blenheim Palace on 3 September. It is expected to fetch between £180,000 and £220,000
