The parents of Anton Yelchin are suing Fiat Chrysler for the 'wrongful death' of their son.
The 27-year-old Star Wars actor died when his Fiat Chrysler rolled down his driveway and pinned him against the gate of his home on June 19. He was found by friends who were concerned after he didn't turn up to a rehearsal.
The Los Angeles medical examiner ruled it was an accident after an autopsy determined the cause of death was blunt force asphyxia.
Shortly after his death, it was revealed that the Jeep Grand Cherokee Yelchin owned had been involved in a recall related to a gear shifter design. The issue related to the fact that it was not clear to owners if the ZF-made automatic transmission had been placed in 'park.'
The Yelchins will be suing for an unspecified amount of punitive damages due to the Jeep's 'significant defects'.
