A wheelchair user has been caught on camera speeding past traffic on a busy Barcelona road.
Footage, which was shot by the passenger on a pursuing motorcycle, shows the wheelchair moving rapidly along the Carrer de Muntaner, one of the city's main streets.
Making full use of the bus lane, the blue-shirted man swerves around cars, with little regard for his vulnerable position.
The Catalan city's police force has been left baffled by the unlikely road user, but say there is nothing they can do.
"We've only seen the video on YouTube. We didn't see it as it happened and so we haven't been able to do anything," a spokesperson told the Guardian.
"The man in the wheelchair remains unidentified as it's hard to identify someone in a wheelchair in a video. It isn't like a car where you have a number plate."
"The video is very odd, but from a policing point of view, if no damage was done and it was something 'invisible', then there's not much we can do. The world does sometimes go mad."
Since the video was uploaded to Facebook last Friday, it has been viewed over one million times, amassing 7046 shares.
"Sometimes these weird videos go viral and then it turns out that they're part of an advertising campaign. You never know," he commented.
