A motorcycle soon to be launched by BMW has become the first to feature in its own comic book.
The BMW G310R is a small capacity, single-cylinder roadster set to hit UK dealerships in October this year. At around the same time, Riders in the Storm, a comic book based on a motorcycle-riding policewoman and her allies, will be released in limited numbers.
The graphic novel has been produced in collaboration with publisher Panini Verlags GmbH. It was written by Croatian author and illustrator Darko Macan, and illustrated by Italian Riccardo Burchielli, who has previously worked for DC Comics, Marvel and Dark Horse.
The plot follows policewoman Makani and her companions: racer Eve, street artist Nikki Animah and a wolf with exceptional powers. A mysterious group called the Black Riders also feature. All of the characters are reportedly inspired by real-life individuals.
As an avid motorcyclist himself, Burchielli particularly enjoyed creating the book, drawing inspiration for it from his hobby and combining it with his profession.
Dr. Ralf Rodepeter, Head of Marketing and Product Management BMW Motorrad commented on the new comic. "Many of us have been familiar with comics since childhood, and we have seen superheroes and fantasy worlds adapted for the big screen, too," he said.
"The author and illustrator are having enormous fun, and we very much look forward to overseeing this extravagant and stylish blend of fantasy, adventure and mystery."
