CCTV footage captures man stealing Jeep using laptop

As cars become more and more complicated, so does a thief's weapon of choice.

The owner of this Jeep Wrangler Unlimited woke up recently to find their vehicle gone, and after reviewing CCTV they watched a man armed with a laptop drive the 4x4 away.

The incident occurred on Elmen Street in Houston, Texas. Shortly after midnight, a suspect approached the vehicle and opened the bonnet – it is believed he was disabling the audible alarm.

He then walked away before returning a few minutes later. After opening the driver's door, he climbed inside and opened a laptop. Following a short period of pressing buttons on his computer, the alarm was disabled and the car started.

He then calmly reversed out of the driveway and left the scene.

Crime Stoppers and the Houston Police Department released the footage in the hope someone will recognise the criminal – a $5,000 reward has been posted for information leading to his arrest.
