Driving the Ecto-1 around London is a Ghostbusters nerd's dream

Taking 'Ghostbusters' Ecto-1 for a Spirited Drive

This lucky man was given the chance to live any Ghostbusters fan's dream by driving the Ecto-1 around London.

Back when the original movie was released in 1984, the iconic car that the team travelled around New York in was a 1959 Cadillac ambulance. The vehicle being driven in this video is from the new Ghostbusters film, which will be released on July 11 2016.

It's a Cadillac Fleetwood Wagon with a hearse conversion and was built in 1984 – the same year the original movie came out.

The attention to detail is great, with a hood ornament of Slimer the ghost - one of the film's legendary characters.

Under the massive bonnet is a 5.0-litre V8 making a rather pathetic 135bhp. Power is routed through a four-speed automatic transmission.

Judging by the reactions the car gets from pedestrians and other road users, the Ghostbusters legend is still living strong 30 years after the film debuted. One passerby even imitates using the proton pack – fortunately it looks like he was careful not to cross the streams!
