Mazda has passed a remarkable milestone, as the one-millionth MX-5 roadster has rolled off the production line.
After 27 years of creating the two seater sports car, Mazda has finally crossed the incredible production number. It also means that it still retains the Guinness World Record for the best selling two-seater sports car of all time.
To celebrate the triumph, Mazda will be touring the one-millionth car around the world, appearing at events such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This car will also be shown alongside Mazda's new Speedster and Spyder concept cars.
Jeremy Thomson, Mazda Motors UK managing director, said: "The MX-5 sits at the heart of Mazda's brand and it embodies all that is great about our cars.
"Its fun to drive character has strengthened the bond between Mazda and its customers for more than a quarter of a century. The production of the one-millionth MX-5 is a landmark and it's great that we can celebrate this with MX-5 owners and fans at the Goodwood Festival of Speed."
Masamichi Kogai, Mazda Motor Corporation representative director, president and CEO, also said: "From the first generation through to today's fourth-generation model, the reason we have been able to continue selling the MX-5 all these years is due to the strong support of fans around the world.
