The government has launched a website that allows users to check the entire MoT history and mileage of a vehicle for free.

Previously, used car buyers would have to pay a small fee to HPI or websites like totalcarcheck.com to find out a vehicle's history and although the new website doesn't give details of accidents or insurance claims, it does give detailed information of the car's MoT history, such as the dates of all the previous tests, the MoT test number, the mileage when tested, and whether the car passed or not.
