American reporter jumps out of car's way on live TV

Reporter Nearly Misses Being Hit By Car While Live on TV
An American TV journalist and his cameraman had an extremely lucky escape recently when an out of control car came careering towards them while live on air.

Reporter Alex Savidge and cameraman Chip Vaughan from KTVU in California were filming a segment on a train derailment in Fremont when a collision took place behind them.

In the footage a grey car can been seen skidding across the carriageway, while a white Toyota heads directly for the pair, who dive out of the way just in time.

The camera doesn't fare so well, appearing to take the full brunt of the impact. However, it continues to record, and seconds after the crash shouts of 'we're ok' are heard in the background.

When the live broadcast was resumed, Savidge emotionally commented: "I am grateful to be ok, that's all I can say."

Vaughan later added: "It happened in a split second. I'm just thankful he jumped the right way."
