Comedian crashes VW show, pretends to fit 'defeat device'

Comedian Simon Brodkin, who goes under the stage name Lee Nelson, has been caught on camera crashing Volkswagen's opening presentation at the Geneva Motor Show – dressed up as a vehicle technician pretending to fit a 'defeat device' to the underneath of one of the display cars.

Pretending to fix the car, Brodkin told security guards: "Mr Mueller (VW chief executive Matthias Mueller) said it's okay as long as no one finds out about it."

All three security guards then escort Brodkin off the presentation stage, which was being live broadcasted out to thousands of viewers on YouTube, as well those watching in the location itself.

It will no doubt come as a great embarrassment to Volkswagen bosses, who are trying to put the recent emissions scandal behind them.

This isn't the first time that Brodkin has crashed a high-profile talk. He recently showered FIFA president Sepp Blatter with fake money during a press conference. While doing so, he told Blatter: "Sepp, this is for North Korea in 2026
