Pristine 1973 Volvo 1800ES hits the market in California

An incredibly rare 1973 Volvo 1800ES has gone on sale in California.

The estate, which was widely regarded as one of the best looking of its kind, is described as a one owner vehicle with 118,000 miles on the clock. Given its age, this mileage seems perfectly reasonable.

The cabin is finished in blue leather, with only the carpets showing small signs of wear. Even the engine bay looks remarkably clean, and photos of the underneath of the car show it too be impressively rust-free.

Powered by a four-cylinder engine, the 1800ES produces around 112bhp. This is driven to the road through a four-speed manual transmission – with an electrically-operated overdrive function. This transmission setup is incredibly rare, and the car itself has somewhat of a cult following around the world.

It is also described as having 'Impact Absorbing Rubber Faced Bumpers' fitted, along with tinted glass on all sections of window.

The car's chrome is described as being in good condition, and it comes with a full set of service books and records. The car's paint is also reported to be completely original – meaning that this car is an excellent purchase for collectors too.

From the look of the photographs, the car has been regularly serviced, with all of the brake discs and pads looking in road-ready order.

It is even listed as having an electric clock and map pockets fitted – ideal for the long distance Volvo driver!
