History of the Mini Clubman
MINI
The original and much-loved Mini Clubman came into existence in 1969 courtesy of renowned auto-stylist Roy Haynes, who restyled the existing classic Mini with a squarer frontal look, using the same indicator/sidelight assembly as the Austin Maxi.
The Clubman was intended as a replacement for the upmarket Riley and Wolseley versions while the Clubman Estate replaced the Countryman and Traveller. Clubman production though got off to a slow start with very few cars delivered to customers before early 1970 after delays around retooling.
