The launch of BMW's new 7-Series, which is set to arrive in 2016, won't be news to your ears. But, to paint you a bigger picture of what we should expect, BMW has released a gallery of more than 350 photos.

The photo shoot, which took place in Portugal, captures the new luxury saloon from every possible angle. Now in its sixth generation, the new 7-Series is offered with two body variants with a standard and long wheelbase.

The German carmaker is also offering the model with an M Sport package, which means the 7 Series will gain a few sportier external features. It's also up to 130kg lighter than its predecessor, thanks to the extensive use of carbon fibre-reinforced plastics.

The hefty saloon will be kept on its toes by a range of engines, including BMW's new six-cylinder, in-line petrol and diesel units or an upgraded V8 powerplant, which can be mated to an optional xDrive all-wheel-drive system. It should be agile in the corners too, since the new model will be offered with a two-axle automatic self-levelling air suspension and Dynamic Damper Control.

Inside, you'll notice the 7-Series is equipped with the brand's Pure Excellent and BMW Individual Design Composition packages, which are primarily focused on providing a first-class, luxurious cabin space. The iDrive operation system gains a touchscreen display but the mew 7-Series will be the first model in the range to use the recently developed gesture control system.

With 353 photos at your disposal, you should know the new 7-Series inside out by the time it arrives in showrooms next year.
