Oversized Scalextric up for auction

If you yearned for longer and longer Scalextric sets as a child, you'll want to head to the Carfest South Classic Car Auction, as you can get your hands on the largest layout the slot car track experts have ever made.

This 45m-long track is made from 177 pieces and has been designed by F1 expert Martin Brundle, featuring famous corners from tracks from around the world. Donated by Hornby Hobbies, proceeds from this one-of-a-kind track will be going to charity when it goes under the hammer at Carfest South.

Playing with the normal format of their classic car listings, Classic Car Auctions says: "Offered for sale is a L 2015 MARTIN BRUNDLE ULTIMATE 2015 CIRCUIT Scalextric manual that has been with the current owner for the last year. Coming with an extensive history file, this lot's condition scores an impressive 108 / 135."

Featuring the best corners, chicanes and elements from the 2015 F1 calendar, this track should be oddly familiar to Formula One fans. The most iconic sections include Monaco and the Casino Square, Silverstone and the Copse, Italy and the Ascari Chicane, Canada and the Wall of Champions and Abu Dhabi and the Marina Complex.

Talking about this one-off track Martin Brundle said: "The team challenged me to design my dream circuit using sections from the 20 F1 races in 2015. I immediately wanted a figure of '8' like our beloved Suzuka, and could only dream of driving a series of corners such as scaling the mountain up to turn one in Austin before falling through the 'Senna S' of Brazil and towards Silverstone's fearsome Copse corner.

"And that's just a small section. Now amazingly, we've built a model and so I will revert to my childhood for many laps. It's going to get competitive."
