We all know how tempting it can be to re-enact the flamboyant car stunts from the latest action movies but, just as Terry Cole used to say, don't try this at home.

As a 56-year-old Dutch man recently found out, these moments of confidence (and incompetence) don't always go to plan. The man in question attempted to jump a retracting bridge in the Netherlands, only to fail miserably, plummeting into the water below.

According to the International Business Times, the driver escaped with his life, but is believed to have broken a rib or two and punctured his lung when trying to escape from the sinking car. He was taken to a nearby hospital.

The driver inevitably must have felt a little embarrassed as the silver Jeep was recovered from the water.
